My Philosophy

Our bodies get beaten up.There's no getting around it.And if we don't take care of them, we lose their function and with it our joy.The fact is many bad habits pervade our culture and are far too easy to overindulge. From overworking ourselves to the rise of sedentary lifestyles we're collectively experiencing more pain. Now many of us are recognizing a need for change.I find receiving regular massage & bodywork incredibly valuable and that's why I've been inspired to pursue it professionally. The hardest part about receiving bodywork though is finding someone you can trust and connect with.My Approach as a BodyworkerWhat sets me apart from other massage therapists is my knowledge of the body, intentionality and ability to connect deeply with the soft tissue of the body.Throughout each session I maintain a connection to your body's responses, adjusting pressure based on subtle feedback to maximize tension relief while guiding your nervous system into peace. With mindful transitions, smooth strokes and plenty of stretching, I use massage modalities that target deeper layers of muscle and fascia, while also using your breath and passive and active joint movement to help stubborn muscles lengthen and release in a way that is relaxing for you.My intention is to bring your body back into better alignment.I often recommend cupping.Cupping suctions the tissue offering a balancing decompressive force that creates stretch and spaciousness in the tissue providing tension relief and increased circulation which enhances the flow of nutrients in the body. This hydrates your tissues and restores pain free movement as well as overall strength and function to your body.I offer cupping complementary with each session.Click here if you want to read more about the techniques I use.The Art of Therapeutic MassageHaving worked with the musculoskeletal tissue and nervous systems of countless bodies my work has become just as artful as it is scientific. I continue to become more fluent in the nature of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems and can communicate with them via touch in a very nuanced way. This is important because it allows me to achieve more significant, longer lasting results within a shorter time. Here's a quote that describes the intuitive aspect of my work:“Wherever you touch somebody, if you go in a little way you’ll encounter a natural barrier, if you try to push passed that barrier it’s very likely going to be painful. But if you go to the barrier, maybe even back off a little.. and wait.. you’ll find that the barrier begins to respond. The barrier will soften and melt, the barrier will draw you in, the barrier.. if the body trusts you, will show you what it wants.”- Dr. Ed Maupin, renowned Structural Integration Therapist

Bodywork Techniques

  • Myofascial Release Therapy: this approach examines posture and lengthens myofascia and supporting connective tissues to improve long term structural and postural alignment

  • Deep Tissue: breaks apart adhesions (knots), releases trigger points, lengthens and releases overused muscles

  • Sports Massage (not just for athletes): mobilizations, passive and active joint movement, assisted stretching

  • Shiatsu (Japanese style of bodywork): incorporates body rocking (very relaxing), compressions and acupressure points

  • Swedish: relaxing and superficial (a lighter touch) oil-based massage, calms the nervous system with long flowing strokes

  • Cupping (static and dynamic): a suction, or decompressive force, applied to the tissue that increases circulation of blood and lymph flow, releasing excess muscle tension, hydrating the tissues and restoring health and pain-free mobility

About Me

I first learned about the therapeutic benefits of massage & bodywork shortly after I began my study and practice of Ashtanga Yoga. I became dedicated to a traditional yoga practice taught directly to me by an authorized teacher and very quickly experienced my body open in all kinds of new ways. This prompted a healing journey I hadn't yet known I was in for.Over time I became a regular client to 3 very different bodyworkers: 1 specializing in acupuncture, 1 in deep tissue and myofascial release and the other a master of qi gong. These 3 bodyworkers became mentors to me and their techniques and approach are what have influenced my private practice today. As a practitioner of an embodied yoga practice I've gained a unique sense of body awareness as well as a refined understanding of the nature of self-healing and my bodywork reflects this.I'm able to use this awareness to connect with stagnated energy in the body and use various techniques to bring flow there. Those who have experienced my work appreciate that I am thorough, highly attentive to their needs and committed to understanding the roots of pain and not just treating symptoms.I'm committed to my clients' health and wellbeing and truly passionate about the work I offer.A little about my personal life..I spend my free time making music, surfing, practicing handbalancing, partner acrobatics and other circus arts, cooking nutritious vegan food and frequent cold plunges.I have an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for sharing all things health and wellness. My past work experience and business ventures include Peaceful Eats, Doggy Social and Animal Flow classes. I've spent my years cooking and sharing vegan food, caring for and training dogs and teaching fitness and movement.
